Mutiny in the United States of America

For the re-elected president a new nightmare may be lying on the front-doormat.

Several states of the New World Union States of America, are convinced they could do it better than other states and are not willing to take care of other people or other states in the union. They even feel prepared to say good bye to the union, to go and live on their own.

Demand to divorce

We encounter many divorces today, and there are a lot of battles going on to have the rights over the kids and over the assets brought together over the years. You may ask how much those Americans thought about the division of the household effects of the different states. they are already not prepared to pay for a wealth, fire, calamities, natural disaster and theft insurance, but they would love to receive all the benefits for what is good for their likes.

When 20 states have filed petitions to secede from the US it tells a lot of the attitude people want to take in their solidarity for others. They all would be cross if the general union would not come to their help when a disaster of a hurricane, flood or something else would come over them. Though they do not want to contribute into such an insurance fund which could assure for giving help to those in need. It is like a Greek woman yesterday on television, complaining in Athene, that Greece did not receive all the money it needed from the IMF and European Union, but that they had to contribute to saving measures for the country.

One reason for a fledgling secession movement in the United States are the financial implications of approaching new Obama regulations, Obamacare and the coming January 1st expiration of Bush tax cuts are all converging into an imminent perfect storm of fiscal overload which is forcing many states to consider drastic options for their own financial survival.

On Nov.7, the day after President Barack Obama was re-elected, the White House’s website received a petition asking the administration to allow Louisiana to secede.

If 25,000 people sign the petition by Dec. 7, it will “require a response” from the Obama administration, according to published rules of the White House’s online “We the People” program.

This request spread as a virus and the disease brought already 30 states into a request of leaving the union.

Possibility to Dissolve provided by constitution

As the founding fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

“…Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government…”

Aims of the Old World

In Europe the very small countries Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg knew soon after the second world war they had to unite and created the Benelux to make it easier for making all sorts of relations in all three  countries.

Count Richard Nikolaus von Coudenhove-Kalergi had already written in 1923 a Pan-Europa manifesto to express the ideas of many citizens of the western European continental countries which King Charles had already nearly got them all together some centuries earlier.

Bad happenings turn sometimes over into the good, and as such the devastation and human suffering during the Second World War as well as the need for reconciliation after the war, the idea of European integration led to the creation of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg in 1949, which resulted in the European Convention on Human Rights of 1950 with its European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

The Luxembourgish-born French statesman Robert Schuman had been torn in-between the several countries, having been living in in Évrange, Lorraine, once being part of Luxembourg, but also of Germany and as Alsace-Lorraine a department of France.

A European Assembly

Schuman’s first government had proposed the creation of a European Assembly, which took many years to develop and being subject of many discussions between the sovereign countries. His proposal saw life as the Council of Europe and was created within the tight schedule Schuman had set. At the signing of its Statutes at St James’s Palace, London, 5 May 1949, the founding States agreed to defining the frontiers of Europe based on the principles of human rights and fundamental freedoms that Schuman enunciated there. He also announced a coming supranational union for Europe that saw light as the European Coal and Steel Community and other such Communities within a Union framework of common law and democracy.

Rome is not build in one day, and it took many years before the different countries at the continent of the Old World at last agreed to come to one monetarian union. From the Schuman Declaration of 9 May 1950 (later known as Europe Day), which marked the birth of a united Europe the baby took a long time to grow and had to be fostered by facing many obstacles. On 18 April 1951 “the inner six“: France, West Germany, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands signed the 100-article Treaty of Paris, which established the European Coal and Steel Community or ECSC and by the Treaty of Rome of 1957 the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or ‘Euratom’)

The European Union was formally established when the Maastricht Treaty—whose main architects were Helmut Kohl and François Mitterrand—came into force on 1 November 1993, and in 1995 Austria, Finland and Swedenjoined the newly established EU.

A monetary union, the eurozone, was established in 1999 and is composed of 17 member states. Through the Common Foreign and Security Policy the EU has developed a role in external relations and defence. Permanent diplomatic missions have been established around the world. The EU is represented at the United Nations, the WTO, the G8 and the G-20.

On 23 July 2002 the ECSC flag was lowered for the final time outside the European Commission in Brussels and replaced with the EU flag consisting of a circle of 12 golden (yellow) stars on an azure background presenting an economic and political union today of  27 member states, with Brussels as its capital and with a combined population of over 500 million inhabitants.

In 2002, euro notes and coins replaced national currencies in 12 of the member states. Since then, the eurozone has increased to encompass 17 countries. In 2004, the EU saw its biggest enlargement to date when Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia joined the Union. Romania and Bulgaria joined the club in 2007 followed in 2008 by Cyprus and Malta, by Slovakia in 2009 and by Estonia in 2011.

America may not overlook the importance of the existence of the ECSC which had succeeded in creating a common market and could offer a platform for many labourers to be protected by the facilities created for their factories and safeguarding of the outlet market. I do agree that it could not prevent the decline of the coal and steel industries and never would be able to prevent the decline of any other industry when it seems not to be appropriate any more. Today we do not need any gaslamp lighters, morse machines, nor many phonographs or Zeppelins. The incandescent lamps also come to an end and are taken in by the low energy light bulbs. Industry develops and brings new articles but also new needs. the labourer has to adapt to the new market.

In a affluent society this labourer has to be protected and a welfare economy has to be build up. Barack Obama is trying to safeguard such an increase in standard of living and therefore wants to come to a welfare policy for which many Americans are now afraid.

It took far too much time before the Ecu could become the Euro and a general exchange currency. The unified legal tender was a must to secure an easy flow and a sound economical market over all the member states.

For years the American States have a currency which has taken a very important role in the world market, but could be a little more under pressure by the Japanese Yen and in the future by the Chinese currency. In case the 22 states go out of the governmental union they shall have to be aware they shall not be able to stay in the monetarian union. Worse, the money market shall collapse because there shall be protection measures taken by each individual state and the states which own oil shall become too strong against the other states and shall drive their prices of the oil and gas supply higher, to have more power on the market. this imbalance shall increase as soon as the oil winning shall become higher than the Arabic countries, which perhaps could happen sooner than many people assume. (I assume it could already be around the 2020ies, but I am not an economic and have not enough statistics and geological details.)

The Louisiana petition has collected more than 12,300 signatures in four days. A separate effort from Texas had 15,400 supporters and grew already to about 60 000 dissatisfied people.

Similar petitions from 18 other states began arriving November 9, bringing the total — for the moment — to 30. But this virus could infect many other states as well and therefore I think it is beginning time to let the States hear the other voice. In case there may be so many discontents the United States shall have to look under bed to see what is going wrong.

Time to act

Several people may think it is not right that Obama provided such a tool for people to bring out their wishes even if they want to go against the United States of America. allowing such referenda, and giving people also the opportunity to speak against the union of  United States proves that Obama wants to have an open union which is prepared to listen to all the voices in it State.

At the same time when somebody places a wish in “We the people” and bring their voice in the parliament others also can react bringing their wish into the system and letting their wish be known. With the system Barack Obama his administration proves to be committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in government.

By reacting on referenda placed on “We the people” the American has the opportunity to let the government work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation and collaboration.

The same as when it was time to go to the polling station it might be time now to let your voice hear about your idea of having the facilities of going from one state to the other, using the same currency, or going back many centuries in the past, like many conservatives would like, to view a world similar to the Old World of the 19 th century, with people having the right to carry guns and use their own money, not to be interested in the weaker ones, but adoring again the law of the strongest.

Perhaps that is the blood running in the blood vessels of the Americans wanting to be the cowboy again and having the right to play cowboy and Indian, thinking that the country belongs to the white rich man, and all the others may be happy to pass by but not disturb them.

(Sorry for more sensible Americans when I kicked against the shinbone, but when one group calls to partition an estate of such importance on the world-market, than others on that market should also be able to let their voice be heard, and warn other citizens of that state of the dangers of such a break off.)

Though not an American citizen, only having one son living in Mesa, Arizona, I took the liberty to sign a counter petition, because not only the position of the United States on the world market is in danger, but the falling apart of the United States will endanger the world economy and peace.

Every American citizen should also have the right to counter sign actions against the unity of the United States of America and to call for a protection of the economical united market. Being of such importance on the level of world economy also people from outside the United States of America should be able to bring in their voice to protect the important world-structure of North America.
We call for one union of people having the right for democratic education, welfare, free movement over many states, economical facilities with one currency (the American Dollar), with security of human rights for all and democratic welfare for all.

    Instead of pursuing a secessionist movement state by state, I advocate holding another constitutional convention, the purpose of which will be to a kind of reverse secessionism. I propose we simply extract the cancer. The whole northeastern urban corridor from Washington D.C. to Boston should be voted off the island.

    The United States as a whole has grown into a well defined sectional entity. The people of New England want only for themselves, California wants to have it all, Florida wants to vacation, and the rest of us just have to work and pay all their bills. It seems unfair to most of us that certain regions of the country dictate the outcome of an election, but this has happened. Should we secede from the union or should we kick them out? I am proud to be from Louisiana and from “the South”, and cannot stand for the city dwellers up yonder to dictate how I live down here. They have no concept my way of life and they cannot decide on how my hard earned moneys and taxes are spent. I feel that this is taxation without representation and we went to war for it a long time ago. Do we have to do it all over again?

  1. The worst thing what can happen to the citizens of the United States but also a bad thing for the world, would be a solution of a system where everybody could travel around for many miles, not having to worry about currencies or totally different laws than the place where they normally live.
    Economically it would bring a lot of problems to have the national brute product in balance with export and import. They all each individually shall be weaker than now as one nation. Plus in certain nations those with lots of richness in their hands, oil and energy producers and banks shall be able to take the governments hostage much more easily.

    Only two votes after three days. I placed a notice on Facebook today and I am curious if there would be lovers of that State willing to bring out their vote. In case we do have the opportunity to show others that we prefer a peaceful united world, should we not let others know it?
    I do agree all those worldly systems shall never be totally right and working well. There is only one working Kingdom and that is the Kingdom of God. But as long as we are living in this World System we should try to make the best out of it and should try to get as many people strive to unity and peace.

    All the federal assets are being paid by all the people from the present United States of America. So they should get their money back. As by every divorce this splitting of the states would bring in a battle about the goods. Not only there shall be involved a lot of money to be paid for the federal buildings, national parks and grounds, they shall have to face the problems of the funds for schools, libraries and public institutions.
