My blogs 2014 in review

Happy New Year and welcome at my Space.

To kick off the new year, looking at the previous year, this year I’d like to start looking at  some data on my blog’s activity in 2014.

Marcus's Space - About Nov. 14 11.46

2010, December was the beginning of my WordPress adventure. Two years later 4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 14,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would have powered 3 Film Festivals

In 2012, there were 171 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 349 posts. The year after 140 posts were added, growing the total archive of this blog to 487 posts.

This blog was viewed about 7,300 times in 2013. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 6 trips to carry that many people. A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 7,600 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 6 trips to carry that many people. It now has 602 published posts and 19 drafts which I had forgotten to post, so I better make work of it.

The busiest day of the year was October 14th with 59 views. The most popular post that day was 14-18 Musical spektakel te Mechelen.

The other writings who came on top of the list of popularity were older writings:

For my two lifestyle magazines I got about 5,300 views in 2014 for Stepping Toes and for the in March started “From Guestwriters” blog there were about 3,100 times somebody viewed an article in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 52 trips to carry that many people.

The busiest day of the year on that site was May 8th with 95 views. The most popular post that day was Savouring pictorial entertainement.
On Stepping Toes it was a reblog which came on top. The busiest day of the year for that blog was March 20th with 59 views. The most popular post that day was Reblog: Happy International Happiness Day!. (Originally posted on morfa dulas)

For those two lifestyle magazines I had hoped to find more writers and photographers to be interested to join forces. Outside the ward reckoned that it proved to be a major setback. Several people I had asked to write for those magazines did not reply or thanked for it, or said it would be easy to find others (younger people) to write for it. But no younger or older people were found.

Christadelphian World Name dropping in March 2014

Christadelphian World Name dropping in March 2014

For my site Christadelphian World it was worse. There I normally got press updates and notices from many different Christadelphians, but with the troubles we had in my effort to bring the different Christadelphian groups in Belgium to co-operate with each other, we lost many writers or notice givers and even had to take away several messages about Christadelphian events from one or  an other group. This made that there was not much Christadelphian News to bring any more, which made me change the name from Christadelphian World to Our World. Lots of time and energy has been put in my effort to make it possible to direct people to different ecclesiae. At one point several websites got also blocked or censored, which made me not only cross but also very disappointed with the course of events.

But after the bad experience we gained more trust by several readers who had come to see that the Christadelphians are no sect but a Christian group like there are so many denominations in Christianity. Looking at the amount of viewers it had in a certain way improved, when you know that we had placed lesser articles.

Our World New Name for Christadelphian World 2014 March 14

The renamed “Our world” managed to build up its views to 118.747, receiving most viewers from the United States (27.138), Rusland (18.331), followed by Ukraine (16.065). Belgium on the 5° place with 7663 viewers and Holland with 4032 behind France which could bring us 6289 visitors.

My church sites Ecclesia Brussel-Leuven and Broeders in Christus (Brothers in Christ) managed to reach 19.500 views on those two WordPress sites. Wich I consider not bad.

For 2015 I would love to find some writers, visual artists (cartoonists, painters, photographers) who would not mind to contribute to “From Guestwriters” showing the world in what for world we live or can live. The idea is to bring more positive news and encouraging articles over there. In case you would be interested, you are welcome to contact me.
